WHO SHOULD TAKE AN ACLS PROVIDER COURSE?
The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies.
This includes RN’s, LPN’s, RPN’s, NP’s, Medical Doctors, Dentists, Primary Care Paramedics’s, Advanced Care Paramedic’s, Critical Care Paramedic’s, Respiratory Therapists, ETC.
Students in the above professions are always welcome on our ACLS Courses.
WHAT ARE THE PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE ACLS PROVIDER COURSE (2-DAY COURSE)?
Have A Current Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS Course Completion Card.
Complete The ACLS Pre-Course Self-Assessment Online Examination. Requires a passing score of 70% or higher to print the certificate.

- Reading & Interpreting Electrocardiograms (ECGs)

ACLS PROVIDER COURSE GOALS
The goal of the course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage and care for the adult victim of a cardiac arrest, or within the scope of other cardiopulmonary emergencies.
ACLS PROVIDER COURSE DELIVERY METHODS
The ACLS Provider course is delivered using experienced practitioners who deal with cardiac emergencies on a regular basis. The course will be presented using case studies, lectures, skill stations, simulations, and other interactive delivery methodologies. Learning strategies have been selected to help the participant learn both cognitive (rhythms, drugs, algorithms) and psychomotor skills (compression’s, ventilation’s, basic and advanced airway management) to emphasize the course objectives.
HOW AM I EVALUATED?
To complete this course, you must actively participate in, practice and complete the Learning Stations in the course. This consists of a skills station in 1-rescuer CPR and use of an AED, Airway Management & BVM use, as well as a Megacode skills station. In addition, you must also achieve a minimum grade of 84 percent on the written evaluation.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
You will be required to complete some pre-reading. Allow at least eight hours to prepare and review the materials which include: the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Professional Provider Manual (2015 Canadian Edition).
WHAT CERTIFICATION WILL YOU EARN AT THE END OF THE ACLS PROVIDER COURSE?
When you complete the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s ACLS Provider course, you will receive the coveted, official ACLS Provider course completion card From The Heart & Stroke Foundation Of Canada.
If you are taking advantage of our combined BLS & ACLS Program, you will also receive the official BLS Provider completion card from the Heart & Stroke Foundation Of Canada.
Your ACLS completion card expires two years from the date of issue.
Your BLS completion card expires one year from the date of issue.

WHAT CME CREDITS WILL YOU EARN AT THE END OF THE ACLS PROVIDER COURSE?
MAINPRO Credits (College of Family Physicians of Canada)
When you complete your ACLS Provider / Renewal Program, you are eligible for 0.5 Mainpro-C Credits per hour of participation. A copy of your Heart & Stroke Foundation’s, ACLS Provider completion card will need to be submitted.
